What Causes Increase In Lipase And Amylase Levels?

hi
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM
Thank you for the query
I understand your concern
Well if you never had pain during the episodes of rise of lipase and amylase then likely it is not related to pancreas.
Also need to know the exact reports and the normal range of that particular laboratory where the test was carried out.
Also is your creatinine normal otherwise it's common to have raised levels in kidney disease also.
Some drugs can cause rise in levels but does not look like you are on one.
Can get serum macroamylase levels checked if available in your country which is a normal conditions where amylase is not excreted by kidney and thus have raised blood levels of same.
All in all looks like not much to worry
Hope this answers your query
Best wishes
Happy to help

Doctor just to remind you my lipase levels are normal, I will try to get a copy of my blood work, to let you know the normal lab levels.
I have had one episode of pain a year ago, this is when I had blood level amylase of 300! Had an CT scan and endoscope ultrasound showing no disease but a narrow bile duct! thats it! Doctor ordered the 5000 mg Amylase enzymes with each meal!
Could these enzymes be the causing the rise in Amylase? Thank you for your responses.

Hello
Yes get your creatinine check if not done earlier.
If you had pain a year back then likely the source is pancreatic only, then no point in checking macroamylase levels.
Send me all your reports.
