What Causes Increased Blood Pressure In Elderly?

Question: I'm a 52year old male 5'10 my blood pressure is 170/114 is this high? If so what should I do. I am prescribed methotrexate and prendiserone for arthritis. Occasionally I take Viagra that I have bought, is this ok.

Your blood pressure is very high. I think you should make an appointment to see your primary care doctor as soon as possible. Generally when the blood pressure is this high medication is recommended.

It's possible that the prednisone may be causing an increase in your blood pressure. At this time your primary care doctor might decide to start you on some medication to bring your blood pressure under better control. Unfortunately, lifestyle modifications at this level will not likely bring your blood pressure down to a normal range.
