What Causes Increased Haemoglobin Levels?
Question: Hi, I just had a blood test at my doctors office. They called and just said my hemoglobin levels are very high. I forgot to tell them that I just finished taking an antibiotic for the last two weeks. Would that effect my hemoglobin levels?

Some include dehydration, excess production from the marrow in response to a hormone, laboratory errors, etc. The best way forward would be to know how high these values are and look for other clues on the size of the red cells, shape, etc alongside other components on this test. Depending on the findings, a plan would be established to investigate, pinpoint the cause and address accordingly.
