What Causes Increased Weight Gain While On Risperidone?

Question: i have a friend whose daughter first about 7 years ago was involved with a guy who gave her a vudu doll which she carried everywhere. She, he, and some other boys (at the time she was 17) broke into 35 cars one of which was parked in the garage and the people were home. They stole a lot of stuff. She was up for many felony charges. Somehow within a few months of that she became very, very thin and hot the wall with a psychotic breakdown. She was catatonic with acute religious overtones and anorexic at the same time. She got down to about 82 lbs or may be even 80 - she is about 5'6-5'8" tall.
A few months later her father slept in his car outside the window of this girl until the x wife took him back in. he then proceeded to live in a separate room about 20 feet away from the x wife supposedly to help the daughter however. although he helped her with studies to accomplish graduating from high school and helping her get into the community college, she really diod not improve a lot - they kept her on respiradol and she gained weight but I understand the communication between the father and mother was very strained and bordered on silent hostility. The daughter has relapsed a few times and is presently in hospital and was put on Latuda but now on a very strong dosage of respiradol. When she was first hospitalized at 17 she was an enigma for the medical team who studies her as she only spoke of everything to do with religious things. She hallucinates a lot of the time and isn't properly able to function. She has dropped out of school, insisted that the father leave the house which he did and has stopped eating for up to 7 days at a time. Now she again is losing weight and probably weights about 107 lbs or so.... I cannot give you many more facts than this but what are your thoughts? Did she suffer a bad trip on marijuana that she constantly relives? Did she induce bad spirits through the vudu? I am interested in what your thoughts are as a professional?

Brief Answer:
Symptoms are related to Riserpidol.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, XXXX
I have gone through your query in detail.
The girl's symptoms are probably caused by side effects of Risperidol.
This is a classical case of paranoid schizophrenia.
Risperidol is known to cause elevated blood prolactin levels which can also lead to elevated body weight.
Her symptoms are neither related to bad trip of marijuana nor the evil effects of vudu.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
