What Causes Intense Pain Below Ribs?
Question: Hello doctor. ...I keep having intense pain at the right side of my stomach just below my ribs.what could be wrong

Abdominal pain is related to particular structures in the area affected.
In the right side of the abdomen, pain can originate from the skin inwards. This would include the skin, muscles and surrounding soft tissue, lower ribs, liver, gallbladder, right kidney and ureter, appendix (lower on right side), intestines.
In the upper part of the abdomen where you are describing the more likely structures would be the muscles, lower ribs, gallbladder, liver and possibly kidney.
Kidney pain is most commonly due to infection or stones. With infection there would normally be additional symptoms such as burning on urination, frequency of urination, change in color or odor of urine. If you do not have any of these symptoms then infection is not likely.
A stone would cause severe intermittent cramping pain.
It is possible since the pain is right under the ribs it may be gall bladder or liver. Stones or blockage of the gall bladder can cause pain.
The only way to correctly determine the source of abdominal pain is to examine the abdomen.
You may need to consider visiting your doctor for assessment if the pain continues.
By physical examination of the area, urine analysis and possible imaging, you would be able to determine the cause
