What Causes Intermittent Flashes Of Light In Peripheral Vision Area?
This requires examination of retina to rule out retinal problems.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care magic
I am Dr. DADAPEER K, an Ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.
I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having symptoms of flashes of lights from the corner of the eye in the peripheral vision area.
The common cause for flashes of light is age related condition of the vitreous in the form of posterior vitreous detachment and age related vitreous degeneration.
This will not cause any problem and it will decrease slowly and no need to be worried about it.
But some times this is known to be associated with retinal tear. Retinal tear requires laser treatment to prevent development of retinal detachment and other complications.
Hence routinely for all people with sudden onset of flashes of light I advice evaluation by indirect ophthalmoscopy to rule out any problem in the peripheral retina like retinal tear.
Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for examination of the eye by indirect ophthalmoscopy to rule out retinal conditions which may require treatment to prevent further complications.
Hope I have answered your question and the information is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.
Thank you
You need to consult ophthalmologist as early as possible.
