What Causes Intermittent Red Spots On Penis Head?

default
Posted on Wed, 19 Aug 2015
Question: I have a few red spots on the tip of my penis that come and go. I thought it was a yeast infection so I treated with azo yeast plus pills and miconazole nitrate cream (2%) for over two weeks now and it seemed to go away. But after I pee sometimes the tip of my penis will get red and irritated...I was also tested for diabetes and don't have that. Could it be a urinary tract infection and if so best treatment options?

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be urinary tract infection!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these red spots that you have reported. I will suggest that you go ahead and send an image to me for review. This is not a urinary tract infection. Urinary tract infections present with pain on urination and the infection is inside the urinary tract and not on the penis.

Brief Answer:
I suggest you stop all medications and observe!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

These spots are not suggestive of an infection. I will say they are simply irritated and I will recommend you stop all ointments/creams and observe only. I am of the thinking that this will resolve spontaneously without the need of medical intervention. Unless it fails to do so within a month or something else comes up before I can recommend a more aggressive approach towards addressing this.

Let me know what your thoughts are and I wish you well.
