What Causes Irritation In The Throat, Sinus Pressure And Itchy Eyes?

Question: I am trying to determine if my throat is strep or something serious requiring prescription medication. I have had general allergy symptoms which have included scratchy throat, sinus pressure, and itchy eyes. No runny nose or congestion. Does this appear viral, bacterial, or simply irritation from post-nasal drip.
Thank you
Thank you
Brief Answer:
you need to get ENT checkup and antibiotics
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to health care magic.
The symptoms you have described seem to be of bacterial infection of the throat with sinusitis. As there is no runny nose or congestion so most probably it will be bacterial. I would like to recommend you to go to ENT specialist and get your throat examined once. And then you will need to have antibiotics along with antihistamines for allergic symptoms. This treatment will take 3-4 days to settle. With that try to have warm liquid or semisolid diet like soups and lozenges will help too. Steam inhalation will also alleviate symptoms .Hope you will be satisfied.

Did you review the picture attached. Do the white specs necessarily mean bacterial infection?
Brief Answer:
Yes it can be due to bacterial infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi! Thanks for sharing the details and image. Yes it can be due to bacterial or viral infection but in any case for throat we have to treat bacterial infection with antibiotics and to wait for any viral cause to settle in without developing superimposed or complicated bacterial infections. Taking antibiotics like augmentin or azithromycin may help. Also keep on doing gargles with saline water or mouth washes. The spots in mouth are less likely to be koplik spots which are seen in measles as abscence of other systemic features rule out any such cause. Local mouth ulcers can also get complicated due to fungal infections but local mouth washes may help at this moment and if persist then oral antifungal may be needed. Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
