Posted on Wed, 22 Jun 2016
Question: I went to the gyno about a year ago with a stingy and itchy vagina. She did thrush tests and that it wasn't that and suggested multi gyn gel which helped for a while on and off, but has come back and I'm extremely irritated around the bit I we from(the back of the whole). Please help me, I would love your advice. I'm a mum of 3 and it is highly aggravating.

Brief Answer:
Vaginal yeast infection. Need following treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear,

Thanks for posting your query. I understand your concern.

According to your given information, it could be vaginal yeast infection, which can cause extreme irritation. One vaginal swab test is helpful.

TREATMENT: 1) Vaginal soft gelatin capsule (combined Clindamycin, Clotrimazole and Tinidazole) can be used for 5 to 7 days at bed time to eliminate this type of infection. Kindly, consult with your treating doctor for complete prescription.

2) Use vaginal moisturizer cream like RepHresh pH gel or VAGISIL cream to avoid repeated infection and maintain vaginal pH. Maintain genital hygiene properly. Multi-Gyn Acti Gel is also effective.

3) Wear loose fitting cotton clothes. Don't wear any tight clothes or underwear to avoid repeated friction or irritation. Take sound sleep adequately and be stress free.

4) Take healthy diet with anti oxidant (like Vitamin -E or C, Selenium, Zinc etc) supplements. Drink plenty of water or juice for better systemic circulation. You must LIMIT too much Salty/ Sugary/ Fatty food stuffs.

5) Avoid chemical cosmetics, perfume or scented bath products around genital area. Keep the area mostly dry. You also avoid unprotected sexual intercourse until problem is resolved. Use only water based lubricant during intimation.

Hope, I have answered your query. Wish your good health and take care.

This has been going on for a couple of years though, as I said they did a thrush test and nothing showed up. Could it be anything else?

Brief Answer:
Do following tests for evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

Thanks for follow up query.

In my opinion, you are MOSTLY suffering from recurrent vaginal yeast infection and typical clinical features or swab test result may NOT be available in few percentage cases.

Itching or irritation is the constant feature of yeast infection. Allergic reaction to certain bath products should be ruled out. Repeat vaginal swab test.

Additionally, I can suggest you to undergo Routine urine examination, one Pap Smear test and complete STD profile. It will help to evaluate properly.

Hope, it helps for your information. Maintain genital hygiene and take care.
