Some of the most common causes of itch ears are allergic dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis can cause itching in the ear and the most common reason is seborrheic dermatitis. It is unlikely that this issue is related to the brain surgery

Here is what I recommend
1. Keep your scalp clean by using a good anti dandruff shampoo, wash every once in two days. Make sure it doesnt go into your ear
2. Avoid picking on your ear with sharp instruments and ear buds. You might make it worse.
3. Visit an ENT specialist to rule out any active infection, it is possible that you might be having a fungal or a bacterial infection of the canal. If there is no infection then I suggest you use a steroid ear drop like Otomax to reduce the inflammation.

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back me
