What Causes Itching In The Incisions After An Appendectomy?

Question: My 13 year old daughter had an appendectomy (laparoscopic) 5 months ago. Everything went smoothly but she is complaining that over the last week the site of one of her incisions is itching. Could she get an infection thus late in the piece? Thank you.
Brief Answer:
unlikely to be infection
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
It is unlikely to be infection esp that after 5 months , with the only symptom of itching at the incision site , doesn't correlate .
The most likely causes could be an excessive scarformation, or local skin issue.
It would help if you would send some photos of the incision site.
If there is no pus or discharge coming form the wound site, don't worry.
It will settle soon.
