What Causes Itching Of Palms, hands, feet, arms And Leg?
Question: I have been having terrible itching of my palms, hands, feet, arms, legs, all over at times, it gets intense at different places throughout the day. When I scratch it does become red, and almost hive like at times, also has itched around my eyes, inside my ear, and scalp at times which various places become intense at times. This started about 4 days ago, and becoming worse. I have been on Prednisone 10mg daily, and Amoxicillin 875mg daily for about 10 days for sinus, and ear pressure, and infection. I also have been taking Benadryl 25mg 2 at bedtime lately for the itching. I have been diagnosed with a liver disorder of scarring of the liver, but tests have not shown that I have a primary biliary cirrhosis which they have been checking. I am on Ursodiol 300mg TID, and Cholesterol Lite BID to help with the itching, and had been doing very well until lately with that. I had also been on Phentermine 37.5mg 1/2 tablet for the last month I do see a gastroenterologist/ liver specialist which I saw about 2-3 mths ago, and also had a MRI CRP done last month which was okay. I quit taking the Phentermine 3 days ago, and stopped the Amoxicillin today. Is it possible that those 2 drugs could be causing the flare up of the itching. I have a call in to my specialists, but is usually 2 days before they call me back, and can never get in. If you can help me with any of question, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Itching is usually seen in liver disorder.
Bile salts get deposited under skin and cause itch.
I would like to know bile levels in your blood.
Let me your liver function test result.
There is even a possibility of drug allergy too.
Amoxicillin is one of the commonest drug causing allergy.
If it was due to drug allergy, it should resolve in a few days as you have stopped taking amoxycillin.
Thank you
