Question: Hi.. I need some medical advice.. shortly after having protected intercourse, I've been experiencing itching on my body .. it's like pin pricks and crawling .Hope it is not a sign of HIV. No fever or rashes or any other symptoms, just itching. Maybe due to stress or dry skin?

Brief Answer:
Not HIV

Detailed Answer:
First, the odds of getting HIV after protected intercourse are below that of having had it (a few percent) and not know it OR lying about IV drug abuse and sharing needles (up to over 10 percent). I doubt you fit any of these categories.
.
Second, the acute HIV syndrome is characterized by a rash, low fever, aches, and a LOT of lymph nodes. There can be many other symptoms that all have one key point: you don't have any of them. You can get tested but realize that the preliminary ELISA testing has a 1 in 200 false positive rate and if you are positive in that and negative in Western blot, it means the test misfired and your blood reacts to plastic. This is especially likely if someone has allergies (the false positive NOT the real positive).
Psychological reasons for itching are also common.

well, it could be a latex allergy or an allergy to practically anything else you had contact with: lubricants, perfumes, detergents, etc. Also, it is common for the vasodilation associated with sex and/or sildenifil can cause itching feeling along with being flushed.
