Brief Answer: Contact dermatitis; patch testing required Detailed Answer: Hi there XXXX. To me, it sounds definitely like an allergic contact dermatitis possibly to something he has come into contact with while out in the forest. Please use a cream containing betamethasone & diprogenta applied twice/daily for 3-5 days together with an antihistamine & this should set right the problem. At 56, possibly foot end elevation of the bed & while sitting will help the circulation too. Once better, please go in for some allergy patch testing with suspected allergen kits. This will give you a clear picture of the allergens including 'diesel' as you pointed out. Good Luck & Godspeed. Dr Praveen Rodrigues MD
