What Causes Itching Soreness On Buttocks And Sweat Rash In Groin Area?
Question: I was gave antibiotics for NSU (4 tablets) back in January, all went well symptoms cleared soon after. Approximately 3 weeks ago my bum became itchy and it is now sore, not extreme pain, just slightly stingy sometimes. I have spoke to someone here who said my system could be damaged from the antibiotics killing bacteria and suggested probiotics (yoghurt and supplement? or both?). I have also noticed my throat and mouth have whitish patches, and my tongue seems quite coated with white. I checked pictures online and whilst I have whitish patches they arent blatently white. In the past Ive always had itchy feet, thrush when having sex with my then partner. Just yesterday, I felt slight discomfort in my groin area, and last night scratched my skin until it hurt, hopefully its a skin rash. Ive been reading up on Canidida Albicans, is it possible ive had this for a very long time without knowing. Is it possible i have oral thrush which has spread through my system to my rectum? How can I cure this problem. Tablet from the doctor to sort out what might be oral thrush and change my whole outlook on diet. Ive also checked my anus where the itching occurs and I have veins which are quite visible, although it doesnt hurt to pass stools? Hope this gives you the info you need for a reply, cheers XXXX

Can you please provide a clear photo of your mouth and throat where the whitish patches are?
From what you are describing, to my opinion, you have been developed Candida albicans overgrowth due to antibiotic use. Please take note that candida is part of normal flora of out intestines and skin. It is in a perfect balance with other microorganisms. When this balance is broken (in your case due to antibiotic use), candida overgrow giving the symptoms of whitish patches or even itchy anus.
This is a normal reaction to antibiotic use; taking probiotics (as yogurt or supplements) will help put that balance back to normal again, and you'll see improvement of your actual symptoms.
If I was your caring doctor would ask to run culture of:
- mouth swab
- feces
to rule out candida albicans or any other fungal infection.
Itchy feet might be a symptom of fungal infection (whether candida or dermatophytes). To determine the right causative agent, examination of skin scrapping under microscopy is recommended. Depending on the cause, specific antifungal therapy will be prescribed.
With regards to itchy groin and possibly rush, it might be a secondary infection from your itchy feet. If you put on your underwear without keeping your feet covered with socks, then, most probably, the fungus will get into your underwear and cause itchy groin.

Thanks for your reply, I suppose my worry is something more sinister in my rectum ie an std. I have no symptoms when passing urine, no discharge or anything else. I have relief when applying natural yoghurt to my anus, whereas when my anus is clean ie after a shower or using the toilet, it then gets itchy. I forgot to mention my throat is not sore.

Next, physical examination of your anus by proctologist is highly recommended to rule out hemorrhoids and to determine if you need any specific treatment locally (in your anus) apart applying yogurt.
