What Causes Itching Throughout The Body, Nightmares And Insomnia In An Elderly Person?

Question: hello, I am having weird symptoms since yesterday. In the afternoon I started itching. It felt as if it were coming from the inside of me. My whole hand itched then arms etc etc.. Later on that night I began having horrible dreams; not scary in terms of monsters etc but dreams that literally jolted my stomach into reactions each time. My whole body would tighten up and I would feel as if I was going crazy. I am 56 and this has never happened before. I slept until ten am but really I was not asleep, just awaiting the next : episode. Then this afternoon the itching began again. I felt like I was going to go through the roof. I was walking fast around the house, racing. I am asthmatic but it was not asthma. As I type this I am a complete nervous wreck; took tow 25 mg benadryl along with two .25 xanax. Believe it or not this is a whole lot of medicine for me. I have major restless legs too and my legs just move while I am laying down. I point them in the air, etc. What the heck?
Brief Answer:
It can be allergy and panic attack, needs check up
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us
Symptoms you described suggest panic attack after itching. However it has happened first time so you should go to doctor for routine physical check up. If everything come fine, it is confirmed panic attack. Xanax as and when required can help. History of allergy should also be evaluated.
Go for meditation and deep breathing exercise to remain calm.
Thyroid and vitamin B12 level should also be assessed.
Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further.
