What Causes Itchy Bumps And Red Rash On Face Of A 6 Year Old?

Question: 6 year old, female, XXXXXXX has itchy bumps and a red rash on her face; fever (101.5) but no sore throat.
Very tired little girl. Her mom had appt and left her with me.(I am her great Aunt). Thoughts???

Hello. I just read through your question.
The most likely diagnosis, based on what you describe, is a viral illness. Sometimes they can produce a rash which is itchy. Typically the fever will last 2-3 days but the rash can often last 7-10 days. Treating the fever often makes the children more comfortable.
If the fever last beyond 2-3 days, I recommend consulting with your doctor.

What can we do to stop her itching? Benadryl??? Calamine lotion??

Both will help. I generally like benadryl gel applied directly to the rash if it is available. Otherwise benadryl by mouth and calmine are both great ideas.
