What Causes Itchy Dry Skin Of Vulva?
Question: The skin of my vulva becomes thin, dry, whitish and sometimes itchy. It started as an allergic reaction to my sanitary napkin.

In my opinion, it might be an allergic reaction to sanitary napkin as it started after using them.
As there are no bumps it might not be infection.
Stop using that particular sanitary napkin brand and change to another one. Apply moisturizer to relieve the dryness of skin. Wear loose cotton inner garments. Always use mild soap to wash the vulval area as the skin in this region will be sensitive and harsh soaps might make the skin dry and itchy.
Take antiallergics like cetrizine tablet once or twice a day depending on the response.
Apply corticosteroid ointment over the area to relieve from itching.
By following above measures it might subside in 4 to 5 days. Don't worry.

Hi doc. Just a follow up. Even if I stopped using the brand of sanitary napkin, i noticed that it becomes itchy, turns erythematous sometimes with burning itch.. Now I change underwear three times a day because it might be a hygiene problem but it's still there. I tried using cotrimazole for two days now but it still becomes itchy and sometimes burning .
