What Causes Itchy Hands And Legs?
Question: Hello Doctor,
My 2 and half year old daughter has developed some allergy and she is itching her hands and legs. It looked like an insect bite. I applied caladryl. It is not reducing. I feel it could be food allergy as well. She had chicken on Sunday and this allergy started then. It looks like smaill skin eruptions, turn little red on itching it. Please advise immediately.

possible urticaria
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
From your description it looks like your daughter has urticaria.
Urticaria can be triggered by many factors, mainly a viral infection or food allergy.
I would advice my patients antihistamines both h1 and h2 like cetrizine and rantac.
I also prescribe low potent steroids like deflazocort once daily for 3 days. It is safe for kids.
Continue calamine lotion for application.
It should settle in a few days.
Wishing her good health
