What Causes Itchy Rash On Upper Back, Thighs And Buttocks?

default
Posted on Wed, 5 Aug 2015
Question: Skin rash on upper back thigh. Right under butt cheek and in crease. Was itchy 2 days ago.
Yesterday was itchy and a bit warm. Thought it was fungal. Put lotrimin spray on it to dry out but now is spotty, bumpy, and a bit painful. Whole area about 2inches x 1.5 inch. Fungal? Eczema? Psoriasis? Herpes?

Brief Answer:
Most probably allergic reaction

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your query as well as image attached and would try to help you in the best possible way. Features are suggestive of allergic response which could be due to any cause like dust, insect bite, etc. If i were your treating doctor then i would have advised following things:

- cetirizine one at night for 5 days
- wash/change bedding thoroughly.

Hopefully you will see improvement in 2-3 days BUT if conditions remains same or aggravates then you need to visit hospital for further workup.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!
