What Causes Itchy Red Rashes, Sneezing And Wheezing?
Question: I am having allergy . I am have itching, sneezing, few red rashes and wheazing problems.I am allergy to medicine Amoxyllin, Parthenium plant, dust, smoke etc. I will have continous sneezing after taking bath in the morning. I am taking tablet Montek-LC daily for years and it is in control now. But at times allergy is not controlled even by this tablet. Please advice me a suitable medicine.

The best treatment for allergy is complete avoidance of allergens. This is the utmost priority in allergy treatment.
Since you know allergens causing trouble in you, I advice you to completely avoid all these if possible.
Other than montek-LC following drugs can help you.
1. Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) either in the form of nasal spray or meter dose inhalers (MDI).
If you are having more sneezing than nasal sprays having ICS are the treatment of choice.
If you are having wheezing than MDI containing ICS are treatment of choice.
So you can use these drugs on as and when required basis along with montek LC.
2. Another molecule named fexofenadine is more potent antiallergic and less sedative than levocetrizine and it is also available in combination with montelukast. So you can try this combination also.
3. Immunotherapy is a newer way to treat allergy. In this technique gradual doses of allergen are subjected in the patient and try to achieve cure by tolerance and antibody production. So next time when allergen is exposed body fights better and prevent the allergic cascade and symptoms.

Taking montelukast for years will have any side effect? Also advice how to go for immunotherapy?
