Brief Answer:
It could be autoimmune or genetic problem

Detailed Answer:

These kind of symptoms happen in Psoriasis or epidermolysis bullosa(both skin conditions).

First of all, I need to know whether you have arthritic pain in knee or ankles or other joints and do Sun rays exposure increase these symptoms. As this could be because of psoriasis or other autoimmune diseases. For that you may need skin biopsy to be done to diagnose the cause.

Other cause could be an epidermolysis bullosa which is genetic disease and also can be ruled out by skin biopsy.

I would suggest that visit a Rheumatologist and discuss further as, if it is without any cause the probable cause could be autoimmune or genetic.

Hopefully I answered your question. You may ask further anytime.

I do get pains in my knees and ankles and only way to ease pain is if they crack . I haven't went to Dr for it because I thought it was from my back I have degenerative disk and 4 bulging disk. I'm not sure a about sun exposure I haven't really paid attention to that. But will start to watch that . I was given something for psoriasis but when I put cream on it it burned even more I couldn't keep cream on it

Brief Answer:
A Rheumatologist opinion is necessary.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
Dear, Psoriasis is also associated with these symptoms and other cause can be dermatomyositis which is also an autoimmune disease.
My advice would be get an appointment of Rheumatologist and discuss for skin biopsy and muscle biopsy and some blood tests for ESR,antinuclear antibodies and HLAB27.
After that it can be treated accordingly.
Hopefully my answer will be helpful for you.
Regards,Dr.Maheshwari.
