What Causes Itchy Scalp Along With Dandruff?

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Nov 2017
Question: Hi, I am suffering from hairfall for 3-4 years now. The bald portions are in the crown and temple area (pics attached). I also have dandruff and itchy scalp which doesn't go with normal shampoos (head&shoulders, Pantene etc). I had visited a doctor a year ago and was under Minoxidil and Finasteride for about 6 months, but nothing worked. Hairfall is constant. Kindly, guide what I should do now. My hairs are a bit curly so the bald portions could not be covered. Please let me know looking at the pics of my scalp if PRP treatment would help.

Brief Answer:
PRP is not useful

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
PRP is a temporary treatment and hairfall is in control only till the time you take treatment.
In my opinion hair transplant would be better option.
You can use ketoconazole shampoo to control dandruff.
I could not find any attachment.
Please upload the photographs.
This will help me in giving a closer diagnosis.
Waiting for your response.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
10 % minoxidil

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
In your case minoxidil should be helpful.
However as you mentioned it is ineffective for you I suggested transplant.
You can try 10 % minoxidil for 6 months and see results before going for transplant.
Hope this helps.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thanks
