What Causes Itchy Vagina After Intercourse?

Question: Hi,
I am 26 year old married female. Recently, I have itching in my vagina after having an intercourse.. Is it because of the condom?

Hello,

I understand your concerns about itching in vagina after intercourse.

There could be various reasons for this itching after intercourse. I am mentioning the common cause below.

Common cause could be due to friction caused during sexual intercourse which causes irritation in vagina and hence itching. This could be unlikely to be due to condom use.

Let me reassure you that this is temporary irritation which will slowly come down in a day.

If this is repeating on frequent occasions, you need to use a lubricating agent ( eg. KY Jelly) while having sex which will help in reducing such irritation and itching in future.

If it does not reduce after usage of lubricants let me know so that I can discuss other options.

Thank you for your response doctor. Yes, as you said, this is temporary and it comes down in a day, but still, the itching inside my vagina is bad for entire day.

Can you please tell me some home remedy to get rid of / to reduce the itching? May be, kind of, Can I apply any powders / oils / say, kind of Clotrimazole dusting powder ? Please suggest some remedies to reduce this.

1) Please provide some home remedy to reduce this itchiness as its very bad and I am unable to just control/tolerate it. It is very uncomfortable.

Requesting you to confirm on my below 2 queries too doctor pls.

1) During my period, My bleeding stops on 3rd day (3rd day morning to be precise) . Can I have unprotected sex on 3 rd day? Will it lead to pregnancy?
2) When can I have unprotected sex(he ejaculating inside) in general as I just hate using these condoms. My period cycle is-26 days.
3) I had red wine once and white wine once (12% alcohol content),total twice in a month. No, I am feeling scared if it will make me infertile . Please confirm if irregular consumption of wine will lead to infertility.

Hello,

Home remedies are not effective for this, in fact these are likely to cause infection if applied as they are not sterile.

1) Having intercourse from 3rd to 8th day will not lead to pregnancy. This is safe period.

2) You can have unprotected sexual intercourse from 3rd to 10th day and 19th day onwards till periods.

3) Wine wont make you infertile. Dont worry about it.

So, what is it that I can do to reduce this itch? Using lubricant during intercourse-(I don't prefer/like)though we use it anyway later, can you please tell me medications/ ways to reduce itching pls? Though its one day and then it reduces, this one day itch is awful.
So, Remedies/Medications for itch reducing pls?
Also, any other possible alternatives instead of lubricants?
