Question: A friend finished chemo in XXXXXXX In Mexico. Her eyes are red around the whole socket. Itchy and watery. I've never seen anyone's eyes like that. Not even people w/horrible allergy's. From eyebrow to cheekbones. Is this possibly a side effect. She's never had allergy's of any kind. Nothing seems to help. Any insight? It was breast cancer and had one breast removed and prog. Excellent. Stage 2

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

Based on your description it appears to be a case of Raccoon eyes or periorbital ecchymosis which is a sign of basal skull fracture or subgaleal hematoma, or (rarely) in certain cancers. The eyes need to be examined and imaging investigations of the brain need to be done to look for possible cause. Blood counts and basic metabolic panel should also be done to look for possible bleeding disorder or cytopenias associated with the chemotherapy. Treatment would depend on the underlying causes.
