What Causes Jaw Pain When Diagnosed With Temporomandibular Joint Disorder?

Question: Hello. I have TMJ and it has not been a problem until two days ago. I yawned and my jaw popped. I am now having trouble opening my mouth to eat and the pain is only present when I try to open my mouth to do so. I'm not sure what my next step should be. Thanks in advance :)
Brief Answer:
Get a Panoramic x Ray done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi..
So sorry to hear about your problem..
Well it looks like either there has been damage to the ligament that acts as a cushion between the two bony ends of the jaw joint or there is slight dislocation of the jaw joint..
You should consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated.
He can advise you a Panoramic x Ray so that he can evaluate your jaw joints..
Treatment can be done once the cause is ruled out..
For now you should take a course of painkillers and muscle relaxants.
Take a soft diet and avoid excessive mouth opening..
Avoid chewing anything hard..
Avoid stress and just relax as it is treatable..
Please revert back for more queries..
