What Causes Jerking Movement In The Abdomen?
Question: Yes, thank you. I don't know how to describe my symptom other than to say I have frequent feelings of "jerking" throughout my abdomen. I am regular and have no pain. The "jerks" do not seem to be related to my eating pattern. I just think there must be some imbalance I should take care of.I just remembered that I also had my gall bladder removed about 29 years ago.
I have no food intolerances.
Brief Answer:
Kindly provide when you have jerking feeling...
Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Before running into final conclusions, may I know if the feeling of "jerking" throughout your abdomen is :
- at rest
- while moving
- when falling asleep
This is very important to understand the nature of your abdominal jerking and to run appropriate tests for the final diagnosis and treatment.
Looking forward to have the requested data in!
Thank you!

I am aware of the "jerking" when I am sitting quietly before or after a meal, when resting or when falling asleep. I don't recall experiencing it when I'm moving about but that may be because I have some goal or activity in mind. I will try to be more aware of whether or not it occurs when I am moving about.
Even though my history may be too vague for you to make a diagnosis or even an educated guess, could you tell me what some of the possibilities are?
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Organic problems should be ruled out first...
Detailed Answer:
Hi back dear XXXX
Thank you for following up.
Feeling "jerking" on your abdomen muscles let me think over neurological problems derived from local spinal segments or central nervous system.
So, to come to final conclusions, if I was your caring doctor would exclude organic problems first. For this, I'd ask to run further tests:
- X-ray or MRI of spine
- liver/kidney function tests
- abdominal ultrasound
Hope it was of help! Let me know if you have further queries!
