What Causes Jerking Sensation In The Legs While Sitting?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: My name is XXXX, since I had my first child in 1973 I have had problems with my legs jerking when I am sitting or trying to rest. This has become worse over the years and I can feel it comes from behind the top of my left hip area, goes around and to the inner leg then down to under the foot. I have been treated for Restless Leg Syndrome and given Madopar (Parkinsons Medication) to relax the nerves. A few years ago I had a sleep apnea test and because of my leg jerking I only achieved 62 minutes sleep. As I am possibly facing a hip replacement soon I was wondering if a the same time an investigation could be done to see what is happening to the nerve that would control this. Do you have any suggestion as to how I could ask for this help.
Thank you in advance

Brief Answer:
Need to consult an Orthopedic Surgeon, or a Neurosurgeon.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
In order to evaluate further and understand better your condition, evaluation by an Orthopedic Surgeon or a Neurosurgeon is necessary.
An MRI of the lumbosacral spine and X-rays also are necessary to understand better that there is a compression on nerves, or there is any instability of your lumbosacral, or sacroiliac joints that is causing your issues.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you Dr Spaho,
I now feel like someone has understood what I have been trying to explain to Drs for years now, and becoming frustrated at their disinterest.
As I am awaiting an appoinment with an Orthopaedic surgeon regarding my hip I will explain this issue to him the same way I have written it to you.
Thank you again.
