What Causes Kidney Stones And Hydronephrosis?

Conservative/surgical tt depending on stone size
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HealthcareMagic.
Renal stones are formed over a long period of time. A nidus is formed which grows over along period of time to form a stone detectable by conventional investigational modalities. Urinary tract infection is one of the predisposing factor.
When a stone is formed, it can obstruct the kidneys collecting system. This obstruction causes dilation of the part of kidney behind the site of obstruction. This dilation is called hydronephrosis.
The hydronephrosis increases if the obstruction persists and can cause damage of the kidney parenchyma.
When the kidney stone is small i.e. few millimeters, it is managed conservatively by taking plenty of fluids.
You have not mentioned the units of measurement i.e. 3.4 mm or 3.4 cm.
Sometimes very small stones get removed on their own by drinking plenty of fluids.
When large, the stone is removed by surgery.
The type of surgery depends on the location of the stone.
Hydronephrosis is relieved after removal of the stone.
You need to consult a surgeon, urologist or nephrologist for further management.

Well the stone is 3.4mm, so shud that be operated?or will it be fine if i intake plenty of fluids,
and also what shud I be eating, do I need to avoid any food type, so i the stone comes out then pelvicalycal dilated must be cured? I am just a bit worried about 'hydronephoris'... will that be cured?? do I have to take further diagnosis I mean and CT scan or something, is it necessary?
Need to see an urologist for active intervention
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
the stone is small one- just 3.4 mm.
However, active intervention is required since the stone is causing hydronephrosis.
Plenty of fluids should be taken. Cranberry juice should be taken since it prevents infection of the urinary tract.
There is no restriction of any food item.
But you need to see an urologist.
The stone needs to be removed since it can increase hydronephrosis and thus kidney damage.
Hydronephrosis and pelvicalyceal system is reversible if treatment is taken early in the course of disease.
If you have more queries, I will be glad to answer.
