Question: Hi Doctor,
My son is 10 months old and from past few days he is not taking milk. He is eating meal and other things but he is not ready to take milk. He tries to put it away even if we try to force upon him, he starts crying and do not take milk but he is breast feeding. Please advice on this.

Brief Answer:
Keep trying in different forms

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but don't worry. If your child is taking breastfeeding, then most of his calcium requirements will be taken care of.

But to train him for acceptance to milk once breastfeeding is reduced is equally important.
It's a common complaint with many infants. But a good thing is that they gradually improve.

Try giving milk in different ways like milk shakes (banana, strawberry, chiku etc), curd, buttermilk, lasso. This changes colour and flavor and many babies start accepting. Also, starting with small quantities daily and gradually increasing will help them.

You may give vitamin D and calcium supplement such as osteocalcium in the meantime. You may give 5 ml twice daily.

Hopefully this will help you. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care
