What Causes Lack Of Taste Of Certain Foods?
Question: I cannot taste strawberries. I grow strawberries in my garden and they taste very bland. My wife (48) says they taste fine as does my 8 year old son. I'm ready to till them under but I also realize that there are illnesses that can effect my taste. Maybe it's just age. I take a lot of supplements (omega 3 fish oil, Co-Q-10, ginkgo biloba, soya lecithin, bromelain,vitamin D3, C, and a multi-vitamin) as well as Triamterene/hctz, gemfibrozil, and androderm patch. Could these possibly be causing this problem?

I am so sorry to hear about these difference in the taste of strawberries reported by your wife and daughter from your. The truth is that we have different expectation of how a fruit should taste. It is totally fine for someone to say this fruit taste good and for you to say the contrary.
I will be concerned if you say everything else tastes bad. Tis is clearly not the case and you should not get worried because of the differences. This is very normal and in no way shows that there is a problem with your taste glands. Age is not the problem either. If drugs caused this, then you would have had issues with the taste of everything which goes int your mouth and not just the strawberries.
