What Causes Laryngitis?

default
Posted on Mon, 11 May 2015
Question: I have just lost my voice.
No cold.
No fever.
I have had quadruple bypass, some 27 years ago.
And I am taking Flomax and Avodart for BPH.
Can I take gimalxina amoxicilina for the voice issues....or should I take something else?

Brief Answer:
usually laryngitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Usually laryngitis (loss of voice) is due to a viral infection so antibiotics will probably not help. It just takes time, hydration and resting the voice. If it persists then it could be something else like vocal cord polyps or vocal cord paralysis. You would need to see an ENT doctor to look at your vocal cords if it does not clear up in 1-2 weeks.
