Brief Answer:

Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
The pregnancy test if negative that means you are not pregnant.
If your cycles are regular then by day 5 of missed period your pregnancy test should be positive.
The pain and discomfort you are experiencing is due to an imminent Period.
You can wait for 3-4 days. If still you don't get your period you can consider taking norethisterone to induce a period.
Meanwhile for the pain you can take tablet paracetamol.
Please write back with any questions you may have.
Thanks

Thanks Doctor. I have a 29-30 day cycle. pretty regular. I haven't really experienced pain before a period or brown discharge before. what could be the cause?
Brief Answer:
premenstrual spotting.
Detailed Answer:
Dear member,
Thanks for writing back.
The Brown discharge is called premenstrual spotting . This occurs in cycle which are delayed without pregnancy. In such cases due to some hormonal imbalance the complete withdrawal of progesterone hormone does not occur. This may cause pain and spotting or brown discharge.if the discharge is smelly and you have fever then you may consider infection too though in your case infection is unlikely.
Unless repetitive in other cycles this is not serious and you don't have to worry.
If pregnancy negative then you can take paracetamol for pain and norethisterone to induce a proper period.
Thanks
