What Causes Left Sided Pain Above The Hip?
Question: 34 yr old male, good health; left side pain, right above hip, directly on side (maybe ever so slightly towards back rather than front; pain comes and goes every 30-60 seconds and feels like a quick pinch or contraction, then goes away; been happening for about 4-6 hours.
Brief Answer:
Could be intestinal colic or kidney stone.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Is this the first episode of pain? Since when is the pain?
As you describe the pain it sounds like a colic. Most commonly it could be intestinal colic which should resolve with time as long as your bowel habits are normal.
Another cause could be kidney stones for which you should see a Doctor who can arrange an Ultrasound of Abdomen and Pelvis which will rule out any stones. If you have any burning during passing urine then it would point towards kidney stones.
