What Causes Lesions On The Lips And At The Corners?
Question: Hi just wondering if you can tell me if these are Fordyce spots on my lips, have had them since I was a teen and could only see them when lips were stretched, now at 38 I have them on my top lip and corners, my pigment is fading so they are getting more noticeable.
Brief Answer:
Fordyce spots
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
You have these spots or lesions along your lips and you are concerned that these are Fordyce spots. you are correct they ar fordyce spots. These are sebaceous glands under the skin. They are completely benign and do not need any treatment. If they are cosmetically troubling you could see a skin specialist who does laser treatments. I would not recommend it as they can cause scarring and possibly pain. For something that is benign I would not risk the laser treatment.
I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions

Thank you, do these continue to get worse and worse? I have been trying a multivitamin lately on a daily basis but have not seen much improvement. I know they are nothing to be concerned about but I am starting to get self conscious when I see people look at them. Any other supplements you could recommend?
Brief Answer:
treatment of fordyce spots
Detailed Answer:
You can try using citrus or essential oils. These may help reduce the appearance. But medically there is no therapy to treat the spots. I did mention possible laser treatment so if you feel that self conscious about them you could contact a skin specialist who does laser treatment and see if they treat fordyce spots.
