Question: What could be the cause or causes of slight light headed feelings and slight feelings of imbalances while sitting

Possibility of brain related pathology is more.

I can understand your concern.
Your symptoms like light headedness, imbalance etc are more suggestive of brain related pathology.
Causes for this are
1. Cerebellar pathology like embolism, ischemic stroke or mild hemorrhage.
2. Migraine can also cause similar symptoms.
3. Inner ear diseases like infection, post traumatic injury etc can also cause similar symptoms.
4. Electrolyte disturbances like hyponatremia can also cause similar symptoms.
5. Vitamin b 12 deficiency can cause similar symptoms also.
So better to consult doctor and discuss all these things. You may need clinical examination and reports to find out the cause for these symptoms.

Yes, do take medication for hypertension but it is controlled.
I do not have diabetes
Blood work last week did not show a b 12 deficiency.

It began on Sunday morning with dizziness and subsequent light headed feelings that comes and goes.
Bp checked every 30 minutes or so on Sunday and was 148/70 to 162/78 before seeing Dr. Dr. checked and found it to be in the same range.
Did not see any stroke like symptoms.

My life is not stressful.
There is no alarming symptoms before starting.
No earache or itching.

No, not just sitting. These feelings comes when lying down as well.
Yes, ocassionally these felings do surface when changing positions. In fact, sometimes I change positions to feel better. When lying down and the feelings comes, I sit up and feel better.

Start Vertin 16 mg 1-1-1 and stemetil MD 5 mg 1-1-1.

So you will need these drugs in following dose.
1. Tablet Vertin (beta histine) 16 mg, three times a day. Better to take it on empty stomach.
2. Tablet Stemetil MD (mouth dissolving) (prochlorperazine) 5 mg thrice a day. Keep this tablet under your tongue or between cheek and gums. Let it dissolve by its own. Don't chew or swallow.
Take these drugs for 3 days.
You will mostly improve with all these.
