What Causes Lightheadedness While Suffering From Sinusitis?

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Apr 2017
Question: I am in good health - age 66, although I do have health anxieties.
For the last several weeks I have experienced a feeling of lightheadedness - occurs several times a day. Lasts 2-10 seconds, and only when i move my head - usually when I look up or down. No real dizziness. Never happens if I'm sitting or lying down. I have had pretty significant sinus congestion - but no real ear or head pressure, but lots of drainage and blowing my nose.
No weakness.....no problem walking heel to toe, no headache, no tingling, etc.
Looking for counsel from a neurologist as to whether this could be indicative of a serious concern.
Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be not a neurological condition.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

In my opinion, symptoms you've described, don't indicate any serious neurological condition.

Since there is a history of sinusitis too, and lightheadedness is related to head and neck position, middle and inner ear dysfunction should be considered as a possible diagnosis.

Since symptoms are mild you shouldn't worry much more than necessary, they should subside with time.

If the condition becomes bothersome, getting evaluated and examined by an ENT Doctor is the right thing to do.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
