What Causes Locking Up Of Knee Joints?

Question: My knee joints lock up when bending them. This happens when sitting, bending to pick something up and when laying in bed. What could be the cause of this?
Brief Answer:
Internal knee injury.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Frequent locking of the knee joint at your age can be due to an injury to the knee joint. There is an injury of the internal structures of the knee like menisci or ligaments.
This needs an MRI scan of the knee for proper diagnosis. Do consult an orthopedician for proper treatment. Use an elastic knee brace till then for support to the knee.
I hope this answers your query.
