Brief Answer:
Possible Chronic Severe Pharyngitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,

I understand your concern.

Inability to smell or taste can result from Inflammtion of the upper respiratory tarct.

The possible sensation of obstruction in the throat can result severe Posterior pharyngeal wall inflammation.

All you need is an Indirect Laryngoscopy to assess the severity of infection.

Prednisone can actually worsen the clinical picture if used alone.

Suitable antibiotics will help to eliminate the infection and reduce the symptoms.

Drugs like Augmentin or Levofloxacin cause excellent resolution of symptoms.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
