Question: Dear Doctor,
My name is XXXXXXX from XXXXXXX and am 36 years old. I am 10.1 weeks pregnant my 1st ultrasound was quite normal and just did my dual marker test on 14th aug. My free beta hcg ( CLIA) is 3.91 ng/mL and they have mentioned that free beta hcg mom is low. Pappa is 0.49 MIU/mL. i am very tensed doctor as does this mean that its miscarriage as my beta hcg level is very low. have attached my dual marker test report. As i could not understand much of reading from the report hence if you could kindly guide me for the same.
thank you very much doctor. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Need not worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Beta HCG is most of times is variable and does not clinically correlate during 8 to 10 weeks. I would suggest you to repeat the same tests at around 12th week for better reliability. Since the scan is unremarkable, I would conclude that there is no need to worry.
A simple drop in Beta HCG alone does not indicate miscarriage, there should be persistent drop with increasing rate day after day and you will have clinical signs of threatened or missed abortion.
Hope, I answered your query.
Wish you good health.
Regards,
Need not worry
