Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
Fever you mentioned 99 degrees is low grade fever.
In pregnancy fever can as be due to mild flu, upper Respiratory infection or urine infection.
Blood tests like complete hemogram and differential count will tell the severity of infection.
If you have any specific reason to suspect toxoplasma infection then also do a IgM and IgG levels for the same.
Meanwhile you can take tablet paracetamol for fever while you wait for results.
Please don't worry. Often it's mild flu which is not severe and will resolve in few days.
Thanks

Could it be listeria?
I am so scared...I have been told that either of them are extremely rare and hard to contract in US
Do you agree?

Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing back.
Toxoplasma infection is mainly due to inhalation of feces of pets like cats which are infected.
Though uncommon in USA it's not rare.
It is uncommon but if your occupation involves exposure to animals then you can consider testing.
Listeriosis is rare 10-12per one lakh pregnancy patients. If you have consumed unpasteurized milk or cheese made from same ,meat that is uncooked or partially cooked or your occupation requires you to handle raw meat then you are at higher risk. Please discuss with your doctor.
You can ask for the tests so that you will be relieved.
Thanks
