Question: I am 53 years old and have been finding it harder to get an erection waking up in the morning. I used to have a hard erection such that i would masterbate until I came. I do not have that desire for the past two months. What could be wrong ? Any suggestions

Brief Answer:
High cholesterol can be one reason

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.
I read your question and understand your concerns.

First of all, I like to inform you that transient changes in libido are common physiologically in middle age and that could be one reason. Before making any disastrous opinion about loss of erection, bring positive change in lifestyle which is most common cause for the problem.

The desired changes include daily moderate exercise for duration of 45 minutes or 200 minutes a week.

The another possible cause is high cholesterol and prescribed medication which I am assuming on basis of your current medications.

Even statins can be cause of problem if there is temporal correlation between start of medicine and ED problem.

I hope this answers your question to certain extent.
If you have any questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.
