Posted on Fri, 20 Nov 2015
Question: Hello. Yes, im inquiring about sciatica. Im experiencing a lot of pain in my left leg..it is is greatly interfering with my ability to work. Even in a resting state i still feel it. The first time i actually felt sciatica was in my first pregnancy in 2004. The information i read on about pregnancy related sciatica stated it would go away and not be a problem..but it has been. As of very recent, i have been feeling it a lot and i have been reading about it online and i have the burning and searing pain, and numbness. The other day in my job i almost just was going to pass out because it was literally that bad. i was practically in tears. Later that evening when i was home and in bed..i still felt it and it kept me up all night. I have been using Blue Ice and taking epson salt hot baths...over the counter ipbuprofen...but these things are so short lived. The relief is very brief. I dont know what to do or just how to manage this...

Brief Answer:
Slip disc causing sciatica. Needs MRI

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Thanks for the query.

You could be exoticism sciatica die to a slip disc in your back. This can cause low back pain that radiates to your lower limbs causing the symptoms of sciatica.

I advise you to avoid bending forwards or lifting weights. Do get up from your bed by turning to one side and then getting up. Take pain killer and muscle relaxant like Tablet Diclofenac and Thicolchicoside combination twice a day for 5 days after meals. Apply hot packs to the painful regions to get relief of the muscle spasm. You need to get an Xray of your lumbosacral spine and an MRI as well to look for the nerve compression and to decide treatment.

You would probably need surgery to your back to remove the slip disc that is pressing on your nerves.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
