What Causes Lower Back Pain, Tenderness In Testicle, Thigh Pain And Hematuria?

Question: I've been to a gp today and just want another opinion. I have had lower back pain for around 2 months sometimes severe and recently bearable. I've seen a chiropractor and it improved. However in the last 1-2 weeks I have developed a heavy feeling in my groin area, especially the right side and a little bit of tenderness in my right testicle, occasionally my thigh hurts a bit on the right side too. I feel like I need to urinate now and again but it's not frequent. I have also had a pain in my cocyxx which has subsided in the last few days. Tonight for the first time my urine is starting to smell. I've been given cipro antibiotics for potentially inflamed testicle, which I have already taken one dose, but I also need to give bloods and urine sample Tuesday. My wife dipped my urine and there appears to be a very very small trace of blood but none the less there is some there. The reason I want a second opinion is for reassurance that this may not be tesitocular cancer and also to see if you think it could be a uti because I believe I have some of those symptoms and if it is a uti am I taking the wrong antibiotics

Brief Answer:
Cipro is good for UTI

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
It does sound like you have either epididymitis or a urinary tract infection. In either case cipro is an excellent choice of antibiotic. The blood in your urine could be from infection but also consider a kidney stone. If the blood increases then it may mean a stone is more likely. It is very important for you to take all of the cipro and to drink lots of water to flush out the kidneys and bladder.
It does not sound like testicular cancer. Cancer usually shows up as a mass in the testicle, not with pain, tenderness and urinary symptoms. Testicular cancer is rare and is usually found in men in their late teens and early 20s.
I hope you are feeling better soon,
Regards,
Dr. Robinson
