Underlying constipation the cause of symptoms
Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms
The cause of symptoms is likely to be due to underlying constipation along with associated Gastritis . Following are the predisposing factors
1. Decreased intake of fiber in diet
2. Decreased intake of water
3. Lack of physical activity and exercise
I would suggest you the following for your daughter
1. Ensure good intake of water : 2 to 3 liter a day
2. High fiber diet : 2 servings of vegetable salad and 2 servings of fruits especially citrus fruit will ensure adequate intake of fiber in diet.
3. Antacid like Pantoprozole along with gastric motility increasing drug like Domperidone will be helpful.
4. Avoid carbonated / alcohol / caffeinated beverage
5. Laxatives like Lactulose will be helpful.
6. Physical activity and exercise : 30 minutes of brisk walking everyday will be helpful
7. I would also suggest to get a Thyroid profile done : Serum T3 , T4 and TSH levels. It is very important to rule out underlying Hypothyroidism
8. Urine routine and microscopic examination to rule out urinary tract infection
9. Deworming with antihelmenthic like Albendazole
If the symptoms still persist then do consult your Primary Care physician for further clinical examination and assessment.
Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy life.
Take care
Best regards
Deepak
