What Causes Lumbar Canal Stenosis, Numbness And Heaviness In Buttocks And Thighs?

Medications and physiotherapy would help.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Col XXXXXXX
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your symptoms and diagnosis. I can understand your concern regarding surgery as complications related to surgery may be seen in 5% of patients.
For you, medications such as pregabalin or gabapentin capsules would help relieve the symptoms due to nerve compression.
In addiiton, physiotherapy including back extension exercises would also help.
You should avoid lifting heavy weights and forward bending at waist level.
I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.
Wishing you good health,

I shall take medicines as suggested by you. Please confirm if the same can help get rid of the acute numbness and heavy mass like feeling in the groins and buttocks. There is at times solid pain in the forehead above the left eye. Sould I keep on taking ecospirin as once i had the symptoms of stroke. It was due to a surge of blood pressure that is now well under control.
Regards

You would get better.
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.
Yes, I expect improvement in symptoms such as heaviness and numbness with these medicines.
Regarding aspirin tablets, you should take them lifelong to prevent recurrence of stroke. Other medicines including atorva and BP medicines should also be continued lifelong.
Best wishes,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
