Brief Answer:
seems benign

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

She has a mild lymphocytosis, that is increase in lymphocyte count. Reactive lymphocyte means this is in response to some infection, most probably viral.

There is no evidence of cancer in this report.

Hope this helps. I will be available to answer further follow-up queries.

she sometimes had sore throat in last couple of days and is having prickly heat rashes
I am really worried about her high wbc levels and respective lymphocyte count which is 4.26.She didnt have any viral infection in past 2 months.

Brief Answer:
sore throat can explain it

Detailed Answer:
The total WBC level is fine but lymphocytes are bit increased. The lymphocytes are not looking like cancerous lymphocytes but more like that in response to infection.

does other blood levels also change in cancer and what could this be?

Answered by Dr. Indranil Ghosh (1 minute later)
Brief Answer:
in cancer other levels may change

Detailed Answer:
The hemoglobin and platelet counts may fall in cancer. These are normal in her.

Best would be to wait and watch and get another count is 2-3 weeks time. if it is resolving then nothing else required.

is there any test to confirm the infection.

Answered by Dr. Indranil Ghosh (2 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
there are some tests

Detailed Answer:
But they are not 100% sensitive and cannot pick up each and every infection. We do these only when there are other findings like lymph gland enlargement, spleen or liver enlargement, patient unwell, etc.

Eg, tests for EBV (infectious mononucleosis)

I am really worried Sir.My father health is also deteriorating. He suffered stroke 2 months ago and at that time his blood cell count was normal and his wbc count was 7500.Early this month in his routine blood checkup we observed decrease in rbc,wbc and platelet count(4th Aug 2015 report attached).thereafter his doctor asked for repeated check to test his levels further and we performed his test on 12 Aug 2015 in which wbc levels fell further to 2.8 and other levels remain same.We then performed a test 2 days ago on 17 Aug in which his wbc count came back to 3.7 but rbc remained at 3.82 and platelet count was 160000.Today in his test report his wbc have become 3.84 however his platelet fell down to 110000 and rbc fell further(19 Aug 2015).What could be the problem

Brief Answer:
may be Vit B12 or folate deficiency

Detailed Answer:
Seeing by the blood picture, it looks like probable B12 or folate deficiency. Some drugs can also mimic this. Is he on some drugs right now?

If there is B12 or folate deficiency we can correct it, else just followup. These levels do not merit immediate concern.
