Posted on Wed, 6 Jan 2016
Question: Hi, I am a 30 year old female with normal menstruation cycle. mostly my dates are regular and I get period on same date every month. My marriage was happening next month and was intervening with it so my Gyne suggested taking Primolut N 5mg twice daily starting 2-3 days before due date. I strated noticing spotting for 2-3 days which felt like I am already on periods the flow was similar to that of last 4th or 5th day of period also getting cramps and back pain at the same time. On 4th day while doing exercise I lost a lot of blood and I had to use pad, also the periods are not that painful but the blood is little wattery rather normal thick blood that I see during periods. Please suggest have I already got my periods or shall I continue taking this medicine to delay period as prescribed or will I get my periods if I withdraw taking this medicine.

Brief Answer:
Stop taking PrimolutvN and have a period.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
If you had a bleeding enough to soak a pad then your periods have already started. It is better to stop taking Primolut N. This will increase the blood flow and your periods will be over in next 3-4 days. In case you continue with the medicine then the spotting may continue longer.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

since I had so many side effects of this medicine including heavy spotting, depression, cramps and body pains and at fewer time yellow urine I am petrified whether I should take it to delay my periods the next month. Also has this medicine already messed up my cycles, when shall I expect my cycle next month? As next month is my marriage I am little concerned and is their any natural way to prepone my periods by 2-3 days?

Brief Answer:
Next periods may come earlier or be delayed by few days.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Your next periods should be expected at around 19-20th. They may come earlier or may be delayed by a few days due to the cycle disturbance in this cycle. There is no natural way to prepone the periods. You can take a combined oral pill for a whole month but it will also be associated with similar side effects.
Hope my answer is helpful.
