What Causes Metallic Taste In The Mouth While On Allopurinol And Fenofibrate?
Supportive care, needs work up and management
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Metallic taste in mouth is likely a sequelae of these medications both directly and indirectly via gastric discomfort and acid reflux. YOu how ever need to visit an otolaryngologist and let them run some taste tests to assess other causes of this metallic taste and also assess that yellow coating for which too could be a side effect of meds or local oral hygiene problem and may be contributing to this metallic taste. Fibrates do that more often.
Meanwhile, chew sugar free gums, brush your teeth after meals, use non metallic dishes , cookwares and utensils, take plenty of fluids, avoid smoking or alcohol etc. Talk to your doctor for further workup and management.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
