
What Causes Metallic Taste In The Mouth?

Question: My adult daughter has had a metallic taste in her mouth for weeks and now the underside of her tongue looks very purple, almost like the veins are swollen and there is a small white patch one the underside at the very base of the tongue.

The blue veins are normal. There's inflammation and is likely to be due to thrush, though not very clear or typical in the picture.
Suck on Nystatin lozenges three times a day and take a tablet of Flucanazole 150 mg. It ought to settle in a few days.
